Esther Shorr

Esther is a senior lecturer in the Hebrew program at Brandeis University since 1986, and a Hebrew teacher at the Prozdor at Hebrew College in Newton Ma. Ms. Shorr has taught a variety of Hebrew courses specializing in beginning and intermediate levels. She has also been teaching at the Brandeis Hebrew Language Summer Institute and lecturing on the development of Israeli folk music and Israeli popular singing of the past seventy years. In the summer of 2008 she taught Hebrew at the Brandeis Middlebury Hebrew Institute at Middlebury College School of Languages in Vermont. She is a co-author of "Hebrew in 5 Minutes" via the internet. Ms. Shorr, along with her colleagues, published Brandeis Modern Hebrew , which has instantly become the standard college Hebrew Textbook in America. Esther has been known to incorporate music and film into her courses. Ms. Shorr has had extensive teaching experience of Hebrew to non-native students in the United States and in England. Ms. Shorr was a member of the Zamir chorale of Boston for ten years.
