Shlomo Shechter

Born, raised and educated in Israel, Shlomo Z. Shechter has been involved in education at all levels for the past 40 years.

In the U.S. he was a director of various schools from the very small afternoon supplementary school to a Bureau of Jewish Education Community High School and to a large community day school.

For the past 22 years Shlomo was a senior supervisor and a senior advisor at the Ministry of Education in Israel for the Northern Region. He is recognized as a specialist in the field of coping and stress prevention.

In addition to his work at the Ministry of Education, Shlomo took a leading part in initiating an in-service training program at Haifa University and directed that program for 10 years.

Shlomo served in the Israeli Armed Forces as an officer. From 1981 to 1995 he was attached as a Liason Officer for the cities of, Nahriya, Acco, and Carmiel working with families of soldiers who were killed, missing in action or wounded.

Shlomo has an M.Ed. in counseling – psychology in the field of education. He is a member of the Psychological and Counseling Association in Israel. He has also been a member of the Jewish Educators Assembly for over 30 years.

He is married to Ellen, has 2 children and 4 grandchildren.
